This session will explore the ethical considerations and challenges of bringing generative AI technologies like ChatGPT into our colleges and universities. We'll examine critical issues such as data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and accountability, providing a thorough understanding of how to ethically deploy generative AI. Together, we'll discuss guidelines and best practices for ensuring ethical considerations are prioritized when deploying AI. Attendees will receive an openly licensed, draft AI policy they can modify and integrate into their school or department, as well as sample syllabus statements for course use.

Key Objectives:
  1. Examine Ethical Considerations: Identify the key ethical issues when integrating AI in higher education.
  2. Identify Challenges and Solutions: Document at least three potential challenges and solutions related to data privacy, fairness, and accountability.
  3. Best Practices: Provide examples of at least three best practices or guidelines for ethical AI deployment in HE.
  4. Strategy Creation: Develop and present a comprehensive strategy for managing ethical issues in AI-enabled learning programs, demonstrating the practical application of the knowledge gained.
